Best Places to Snorkel on Oahu (5min read)

With so many beaches in Hawaii  it's hard to know what beaches offer the best snorkeling in Oahu, not all beaches are created the same. In this write up we will give you our list of favorite beaches to snorkel on Oahu. But before we give you our list here are a few things to considering your next snorkeling spot it's always good practice to consider your level of comfort in the open ocean,  how strong of a swimmer you are and you knowledge being in the open waters. Next thing to think about is time of year, even though Hawaii doesn't technically have have seasons, THERE ARE seasons for SURF, and that is something that Hawaii does have; SURF SEASON. We'll get a little into that in this write up. 

Hanauma Bay

With over a million visitors a year Hanauma Bay is Oahu's most popular snorkeling spot. With its unique shape, the cove surrounding it protects the bay from strong currents and offers protection for the local sea-life that resides there. In return it makes for a great place to bring the family for an underwater ocean adventure. 

Here are a few things to consider before your trip.

Days and Hours of Operation - Wednesday - Monday ( Closed Every Tuesday ) from 7 AM - 4:30 PM.  

Cost of Entrance - $9 Adults, $7 Children under 12 yrs old.

Gear Rental - $9 for snorkel and mask, $5 for fins

Sharks Cove

Located in the North Shore  Sharks Cove is the second most popular snorkeling spot Oahu. But unlike Hanauma Bay, Sharks Cove is seasonal and requires a little more ocean knowledge. The best months to visit are  the summer months of April - September, the winter is not as family friendly and requires a little more caution when swimming around.

Laniakea Beach

Also located in the North Shore,  Laniakea Beach is almost guaranteed sea turtles at any given day, you wont even have to snorkel to see them (they like sun bathing) . The Hawaiian green sea turtles are on the endangered species list and are a treat to see.  Most days you can catch
