FAQs

IMPORTANT
SWIMMING & SNORKELING ABILITY:
-BASIC SWIMMING ABILITY REQUIRED.
-BASIC PRIOR SNORKELING EXPERIENCE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Each person coming on the boat must sign a Release of Liability Waiver before coming aboard and participating in our Pelagic Snorkel program.
**If you are UNDER 18 years of age, and your parents or legal guardian won’t be present at the boat harbor to sign the waiver on your behalf, please email [email protected]
. We can send the waiver ahead of time for your parent/legal guardian to print out and sign prior to your charter with us (and for you to bring with you to the harbor).**

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU ONBOARD SOON.
ALL THIS INFORMATION WILL BE INCLUDED IN YOUR EMAIL CONFIRMATION AFTER BOOKING ONLINE.

•DUE TO SAFETY REGULATIONS THERE IS A WEIGHT RESTRICTION OF 260 LBS PER PERSON, FOR PERSONS OVER 255LBS PLEASE BOOK TWO SPOTS UNDER THE SAME NAME AND NOTIFY US (1-888-455-6388 TO SCHEDULE A 2ND SAFETY CREW.) THIS IS FOR SAFETY AND COMFORT. WE RETAIN THE RIGHT TO DENY BOARDING AND/OR PERMISSION TO GO IN THE WATER IF THERE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT SAFETY CREWS SCHEDULED. EACH CREW MEMBER ON BOARD IS CERTIFIED TO LIFT UP TO 125LBS FOR A TOTAL OF 250 AND IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY WE WOULD BE CONSIDERED NEGLIGENT IF WE DIDN’T HAVE THE PHYSICAL ABILITY TO ASSIST.

***PLEASE MAKE SURE TO NOTIFY THE 1-888-455-6388 OR EMAIL [email protected] IN ADVANCE.***

THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY AND COMFORT AS WELL AS THE CREWS SAFETY AND LIABILITY.

•PERSONS UNDER 18 NEED TO BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OR HAVE THEM SIGN THE RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK WAIVER PRIOR TO DEPARTURE.

•ALL AGES ARE WELCOME ON BOARD ***Due to risks associated with an open water environment infants are not allowed on board. Ride alongs must be at least 3 years old, have a snug fitting life jacket for all ages under 7, at least 4ft tall to get in the water and bring their own fins (preferably all black or blue) to ensure a snug fit. Must have properly fitting fins to enter the water, otherwise watching from the boat is still a fun and educational experience***

•We highly recommend against coming on the boat if you are more than four months pregnant due to the fact that a wet boat is a slippery unstable platform with many tripping hazards and hard surfaces.

•Please be advised that the in-water portion of this activity is recommended for healthy, physically fit, and active people only and it is possible you could fall and slip or be hit by the boat in the water if you're not paying attention. You always have the option to get back on board the vessel and you always have the option not to go in the water.  The program is still extremely educational and exciting from on top of the boat.

COVID-19 UPDATES
We are open. Please arrive with a face covering on, use hand sanitizer provided often, and don't stand too close to others. We also offer private charter options.
We appreciate your efforts in reducing the spread of the virus and keeping our community safe by not coming if you are not feeling well. We are an outdoor activity operating 3 miles out in open ocean open air where you will be fully immersed with your face and mouth covered by mask and snorkel.

Please wait by the blue OneOceanDiving Kiosk until the previous group has disembarked, we need to sanitize the boat between trips but we can get you started with signing your waivers while we wipe everything down.

Due to the high demand and very limited spaces (6-8 persons max) and the cost to run the vessel and program, we do not issue any refunds for no shows/late/cancellations for any reason within 24 hours of your scheduled departure.

If you think you may not be able to make your scheduled departure please reschedule PRIOR to 24 hours before departure.

You must assure that the call or text is received and verified with a verbal response or text back.

This policy is very strict, please make sure you show up on time or reschedule MORE-THAN 24 hours prior to departure if you think you might not make it. No exceptions will be given without a verifiable emergency room notice.

Office hours are from 8am-4:00pm HST +1-808-649-0018
Is there an age limit or height limit for people who can participate in the activity?
There is no age or height limit to come onboard the vessel.
However, participants must be at least 4ft tall to get into the water.
We require persons under 80lbs to bring an additional life vest that fits snuggly.
We are not able to care for infants or tiny children, please leave them in the care of a loved one on land while you enjoy your time out at sea with us.
You must be physically fit and able to swim if you want to get into the water, if you are not you are still able to join us up top on the boat, see the animals, and learn the techniques, it is still a lot of fun and educational even just from the boat-riders option for top-side only.
Can you guarantee safety in the water?
Because it is an open ocean and uncontrolled environment we cannot guarantee safety. There are occasionally jellyfish, sharks, and other wild animals.

The owners and all current crew do however have a 100% safety record and we have taken hundreds of thousands of people out in the ocean with zero incidents for over twenty years (owners have operated for over twenty years, crew go through a minimum of one year training) however it is a wild environment so we cannot and do not guarantee your safety. We have the most experienced, professionally trained, and medically certified safety divers/marine biologists/dive masters in the water with you at all times. They are specifically trained in Hawaii for this specific area and conditions and they are the first ones in the water and the last ones out. Please check out our "MEET OUR TEAM" page and Youtube videos if you're intrested in learning more about a few of our team members.
I am not a good swimmer, can I still participate?
Yes, you can still participate, however we strongly encourage you to practice swimming and specifically using a snorkel beforehand.
Do I need any previous dive experience?
You do not need any previous dive experience, it is NOT a scuba dive. It is a snorkel with the opportunity to swim down, but you do not need to swim below the surface if you don't want to. the water is usually at least 70+ft visibility and you can see everything from the surface.
Can I bring my own camera/gopro?
YES!

However, small hand held cameras are not permitted in the water and GoPros are only permitted in the water if they are mounted on a dark colored pole at least 6 inches in length. We do have some GoPro poles on board if you don't own one that can be borrowed for free, however, the poles are older and we will not be held liable if the pole breaks and you loose your GoPro.
Do I have to have a wetsuit?
A wetsuit is not required or needed for this program, but a rash guard is recommended for sun and jellyfish protection. We also provide rash guards for you to use, just ask when you board. If you get cold easily we recommend bringing a wetsuit.
What time do I need to be on the Harbor?
You should arrive at least 10 minutes before departure (your trip time). If you need to use the restroom there is one available near the exit of the harbor (we DON"T have restrooms on the boat). Please wait by the white fish scale on the loading area closest to Haleiwa Joes Restaurant, just to the right of the single launch ramp. You can also wait by our blue "One Ocean Diving" kiosk. You should be able to see it as soon as you pull in the the harbor.

How long does it take to get to the dive location?
15 minutes-25 minutes.
During the ride out you will look for dolphins, whales (November-May), Honu (sea turtles), monk seals and other ocean life.

You will get a very thorough educational briefing on shark and marine life behavior on the way out, including safety rules/guidelines on how to be as respectful and safe as possible while sharing the water in close proximity to large marine animals, specifically sharks.
How much time do I get in the water?
About 45-60 minutes depending on animal behavior, weather conditions, group sizing, abilities and time taken donning gear and getting into the water. If you want more time please volunteer to go in 1st, right after the safety diver, if you're nervous please watch and let others go before you.
How many guests can be at the water one at a time?
The maximum amount of guests per tour is 8 for your safety, comfort and for the highest quality intimate setting and an extremely fun and educational experience. One of our boats can take 12 people, however there will be a safety diver for each group of 6-8.
Can I fly my drone?
Unfortunately it is a company policy we cannot allow use of drones on board for safety reasons. There is a possibility someone may be hit, our boats are rather small, and the north shore tends to be very windy. Exceptions can be made for private charters, contact our office for details.
