The Nutridge Estate is located inside Pu’u Ualaka’a Wayside Park in the heart of Tantalus. The park’s name, “Pu’u Ualaka’a,” means “rolling sweet potato hill” in Hawaiian, which refers to the crops that used to grow here.
In 1921, Ernest Shelton Van Tassel got permission from the Territory of Hawaii to start planting Australian macadamia nut trees on 22 acres of land here, creating Hawaii Macadamia Nut Ltd. The estate has beautiful sunset views by the rainforest and was Hawaii’s first macadamia nut plantation.
Famous guests like Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, and Marilyn Monroe have visited Nutridge. Elvis Presley also spent time here during the filming of “Blue Hawaii.” Book your Hawaiian luau at Nutridge with Experience Nutridge for a special evening!
